My name is Patrick Denis Stoker. I was born in Badcastatt West Germany in 1968 and raised in Cocoa Florida. In 1987 I graduated from Central Catholic High School and began a 21 year journey in the United States Army as a Combat Engineer. While in the Army, I was stationed in Ft. Knox, Ft. Hood, Ft. Leonard Wood, Ft. Irwin, and the University of Kentucky. I have also been stationed in Dongduchon Republic of Korea twice, and Schweinfurt Germany once. The Army also deployed me to Operation Foal Eagle in Korea, Reforger in Germany, Joint Task Force Bravo in Guatemala, and Joint Forge in Bosnia.
I am fortunate enough to have a terrific daughter who lives in Indiana with her mother and for the last 20 years I’ve been fortunate enough to be married to my Wife Susan who is a best selling author of romantic suspense. Thanks to her encouragement I have earned a Bachelors, two Masters, and a PhD. I’ve worked in colleges and Universities for the 13 years and I’ve also served my community as a volunteer firefighter and EMT. I now live in Tennessee on Walden’s Ridge where I am a firefighter and Advanced EMT.
I began this Blog to improve my writing skills and share things I am passionate about. This initially started out as a Civil War blog but events of January 6, 2021 compelled me to resign from the hobby of re-enacting, as many in the hobby (both sides) shared the beliefs which led to the storming of the U.S. capital. I decided to make my historical topic more broad based with and effort towards steering people away from repeating the mistakes of the past. My earlier post are titled Your Civil War Geek, all future post will be titled Your History Geek. I hope you enjoy.
